Under Matthias’s leadership, European Investment Fund’s technology investment business grew to over EUR 4.7bn committed in or alongside more than 260 funds, Business Angels and Family Offices who invested in about 3,800 technology companies. Matthias had a key role in raising and managing major third party investment mandates such as the EUR 1bn ERP-EIF Dachfonds, the GBP 200m UK Future Technologies Fund (UKFTF), the EUR 150m Dutch Venture Initiative (DVI) and the EUR 150 m European Angels Fund (EAF) for co-investments.

Kart Siilats

Kart has been working in global financial markets since 2004 after graduating from Harvard. She has experience in both public and private markets and debt and equity investing from Citigroup’s Global Markets division in London, on both investment and corporate banking side, executing global IPO and M&A transactions and managing Citigroup’s proprietary balance sheet risk in global public sector lending and liquidity management. After completing her MBA at INSEAD, Kart was in charge of all private equity and venture capital funds investments at Barclays Wealth, from research and due diligence to execution and structuring. At European Investment Fund, Kart was implementing the €100m Baltic Innovation Fund, participating in private equity and venture capital due diligence for Northern and Western European and CEE markets and working on initiatives relating to European Commission’s structural funds programs. Kart has passed all three CFA exams, is an advisor at Harvard’s Innovation Labs and has mentored at Seedcamp. Kart is also a former national record holder and NCAA champion in high jump.

Björn Wettergren

Björn is operational investor and entrepreneur with 10+ years experience in the finance industry. Most recently Björn was Partner and shareholder of etventure. Together with his founding partners he built up etventure between 2012-2017 up to 300 employees until it was acquired by Ernst & Young in late 2017. His focus was on the startup division, which included a digital company building, an accelerator for independent european startups and various startup projects for the ​EEuropean ​Commission. He sits on the board of directors of Vontobel Holding AG, a swiss wealth & asset manager and investment bank and he is an advisor to various startups. He holds an MEng from Lunds University, an MBA from St. Gallen University and completed the Impact Investing program at Harvard University.

For over 14 years Anil has been with major global media industry corporations (IDG, Google and Kinnevik’s Modern Times Group) responsible for corporate innovation, corporate development, M&A and investment programmes. Most recently he was Digital Chief Investment Officer for MTG. At Google, he was responsible for over $450m of deals including their first European public to private deal and sourcing their first 1bn$ deal. He is an expert in how major corporates use M&A and investments to drive change, and an active personal investor, advisor and mentor for many entrepreneurs. In 2011 he was recognised with an Honorary Doctorate degree in Computing and Chartered Fellowship of the British Computer Society in 2007. Since 2011, he has been an advisor to the private equity fund EQT establishing them as a credible investor in late stage Internet deals. Previously: board member of the Norwegian Government's 525m Euro evergreen fund Investinor, advisor to funds Creandum (Sweden) and MCI Management (Poland), advisor to merchant bank boutique Lepe Partners (UK), chair of the largest YouTube network in the Nordics (Splay) and a board member and investor in Shazam (UK).

Alexander started Loyalty Partner and PAYBACK in 1998 and turned PAYBACK into the world´s largest coalition loyalty platform with over 70 million active members in Germany, Italy, India, Mexico and Poland. Sold the majority in the business to American Express in 2011 in a transaction that valued the company at over 700 mill. US$. Sold the remaining shares and exited the business in a deal that valued the company at 1.4 bill US$ in 2013. Continues business life as Angel Investor focussed on global BtoC and BtoB retail platforms.
